Microblading ~ Tampa, Florida

Tired of tweezing and filling in your eyebrows every day? Then, say hello to microblading!

What is Microblading?

Microblading is an eyebrow tattoo process that is done by a specially trained makeup artist or aesthetician. Pigment matching your natural eyebrow color is used to create small, hair-like strokes that flawlessly fill in those thinning or bare areas of the eyebrow. You’ll be left with full, defined eyebrows that require minimal effort and look extra fabulous.

The pigment used in microblading fades and lightens over time, so touch-ups are needed for optimal results.

Does Microblading Hurt?

While microblading is usually just uncomfortable, pain is very subjective, and some patients may be more uncomfortable than others. An anesthetic gel is used at certain points during the process to minimize pain and discomfort.

What is a Microblading Session Like?

You will work directly with your aesthetician to choose an eyebrow shape and color that best matches your face shape and personality. Your aesthetician will have all of the knowledge and tools necessary to guide you to the perfect brow look. After deciding on shape and color, a topical numbing cream is applied and the tattoo process will begin. When finished, you will be able to see some early results, although swelling will prevent seeing the finished product.

What about Recovery and Aftercare?

Your skin will be red, sensitive, and swollen after the procedure. Do not pick or rub at the area as this will increase irritation and can promote infection. If scabs develop, do not pick them.

You should be able to return to your normal activities on the same day as your procedure. Your aesthetician will provide you with detailed aftercare instructions based on the procedure and your skin type. Follow those instructions carefully for the best results.

The brow color will fade 30-50% over the 3-6 weeks following the procedure, so a touch-up is recommended 6-8 weeks after the procedure. Annual touch-ups are recommended after that.

Who Should Avoid Microblading?

Microblading isn’t right for everyone. Avoid microblading treatments if you have:

  • Very large pores
  • Abnormally oily skin
  • Permanent makeup
  • Used retinoids in the past 4-6 weeks
  • Had a deep chemical or laser peel within the past 6 weeks
  • Had Botox within the past 2 weeks
  • A prescription for blood thinners

Individuals with the following conditions must be extra careful when deciding on getting microblading treatments. Precautions may include obtaining a letter from their primary doctor giving permission for the procedure. At-risk conditions for microblading include:

  • Diabetes
  • Thyroid disease
  • Autoimmune diseases
  • Liver disease
  • High risk of infection
  • Slow healing
  • Currently undergoing chemotherapy or radiation
  • Pregnant or nursing
  • On antibiotics
  • Keloid scars
