Everything You Need to Know About Microneedling

If you’re looking for a quick, non-invasive treatment to reverse skin damage and general signs of aging, you need not look any further than microneedling! This FDA-approved aesthetic treatment can help fade imperfections to give your skin a smooth, bright, and even appearance.

How Does Microneedling Work?

Microneedling involves gently pressing a fine, sterilized microneedling pin to the skin and will help stimulate your body’s natural healing process. The pin is brushed across the entire treatment area, creating controlled micro-injuries to the skin’s surface. Following the treatment, we’ll then apply a hyaluronic and vitamin C serum to the skin. If you are concerned about any pain, please be rest assured that a numbing cream is applied to the skin before the treatment begins and will prevent any discomfort.

This treatment will help stimulate collagen production in the skin, and as your skin gradually produces more collagen in the coming weeks and months, your skin’s appearance will continually improve. Additionally, microneedling greatly improves your skin’s absorption of skincare products.

What Can Microneedling Be Used For?

Microneedling can be used for a wide variety of skin concerns, including:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Scarring
  • Stretch marks
  • Sagging skin
  • Sun damage
  • Enlarged pores
  • Uneven skin texture

Caring For Your Skin After Microneedling

Microneedling requires little to no downtime; however, it’s absolutely necessary to steer clear of sun exposure, sunscreens, makeup, and retinoids for the first 24 hours after your treatment. Additionally, during the first 48 hours after microneedling, you should only wash your face with a gentle cleanser accompanied with lukewarm water, followed by gently patting the treated area dry. Lastly, you should stick to gentle cleansers and skincare products for the first 72 hours after microneedling.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

The number of required microneedling treatments will especially depend on your skin type and overall cosmetic goals. On average, patients receive 2 to 3 microneedling treatments and are spaced roughly 6 to 8 weeks apart. However, if you’re looking to improve the appearance of deep wrinkles and scarring, you may need to have 6 to 8 microneedling sessions in order to attain your desired results.
